School for Radio and Multimedia

Training plays a big role in AfroReggaeDigital, as with every other AfroReggae project. Our studios our housed in the AfroReggae centre in Parada de Lucas, where residents (who are mainly kids) from the community can come and take classes in cartoon drawing, capoeira, violin, English and computing. Now they can take classes in radio and web-based multimedia.

A full course at AfroReggaeDigital lasts for 6 months, and includes:

- Presenting and producing your own music show
- Making a radio documentary
- Writing and producing a radio drama
- Studio setup and maintenance
- Designing your own online page
- Producing photo and video for the web

As students' skills improve, they are encouraged to get more involved in the station. From the beginning of the course the best of their work is showcased on the website and on the stream. Listen out for the sounds of our students' voices in station jingles, vox pops and features.
