Conference with Hermano Vianna:
If you know anything about a cultural movement, a party or a music group or you would like to publish a piece on any particular theme, you've come to the right place. Normally, cultural expression is not published by the media, but this is not a problem for Hermano Vianna.
Well known as the creator of the website www.overmundo.com.br, the anthropologist Hermano Viana gave a conference on 8 August here at the AfroReggae nucleus in Parada de Lucas , giving a history of how the Internet has responded to a cultural crisis since its invention in the 1990s. He also suggested that nowadays we live in a crisis of knowledge, in which people have information to express but don't have a means of communicating it. Yet 40% of people in Brazil have already published something on the internet.
AfroReggae Digital asked him what the Internet would be like in the future, as well as which populations it has already affected.
The inauguration of AfroReggae's new nucleus in Complexo do Alemão
AfroReggae transformed a place very well known in the last few months as a warzone between drug trafficers and police; Complexo do Alemão and the main road of the community, Joaquim Queiroz.
Creating a cultural corridor, AfroReggae inaugurated one of their nuclei
with shows from their theatre, circus, dance and percussion groups, lots of
music and the participation of Arlindo Cruz, Dorina, Gabrielzinho do Irajá
and Anderson do Molejo, who sung together with the band AfroSamba. The
community also enjoyed a show from the clown, Topetão, and his companions
with wooden stilts and dolls.
The party was such that even a hare krishna group sung, adding to the
positive feel of the event. Casseta e Planeta also participated in the party
with parodies of certain songs amd some jokes

Launch of Luciano Huck´s latest book in Parada de Lucas
On the 31st of July the community of Parada de Lucas welcomed Globo TV presenter Luciano Huck, for the launch of his new book “Na terra, no céu, no mar – Viagens de aventura do Caldeirão do Huck” at the AfroReggae nucleus. Luciano was greeted by AfroReggae groups AfroLata, Akoni and a perfomance from our violin class. Luciano also joined us in the station to be interviewed by As Trix, three of the youngest students at AfroReggaeDigital. As Trix and Paulo Vitor, another of our students (pictured to the right with AfroReggae main band frontman LG), were out in the street and around the nucleus collecting interviews.
